The 152-year-old broadsheet, which has picked up 53 awards for editorial excellence in the past year, also won highly-contested PANPA awards for marketing (branding and display), and environ- mental health and safety. "We identified a number of key indicators where The Age's submission excelled in content, design, production and campaign journalism," the judges said in summing up. "While all other categories were high, it was those four areas that took The Age's entry to the lead." Accepting the award for The Age, chief executive and publisher Don Churchill said the paper had "reconnected with Melbourne." It was "a great honour and privilege" to land PANPA's top award. "This accolade from our peers -- which also included international judges -- is a wonderful endorsement of our efforts and the culmination of a spectacular two years with an editorial team lead by Andrew Jaspan, a marketing team led by Antony Catalano and advertising team led by David Hoath." Jaspan said it represented "a tipping point in our profession and in everything we do." "We have been judged by our peers -- but we are also judged daily by our readers, who have rewarded us with growing circulation and readership."
