Year Book : Year Book 2011
"The favourite page I chose was about the changeover of ownership of the Fiji Times when the Motibhai Group took over from News Limited. The front page image depicts News Limited chairman John Hartigan congratulating Fiji Times' new owner Mahendra Patel in Suva. The headline, we feel, has a double meaning -- Times change -- it meant times have changed at the Times and the Times had changed ownership. It is an important part of our history." FIJI TIMES EDITOR-IN-CHIEF FRED WESLEY EDITORS' CHOICE "When an unlicensed driver in a stolen car killed four people, including a baby and himself, in a crash after being chased by police, The Canberra Times was on the scene within minutes. What began as the story of a horror car accident soon gathered extra dimensions as The Canberra Times led the debate on the merits of police pursuits and our reporters revealed that in a tragic coincidence, the two drivers knew each other."
