Panpa Bulletin : February 2007
PANPA Bulletin February 2007 42 1000 WORDS Getty Images photographer Adam Pretty took the photograph of Sydney Swans’ Michael O’Loughlin screaming at West Coast Eagles fans in the fnal minutes of the game last September: “These was at a deadlock in the game with two minutes left to go – 40,000 Eagles fans had been heckling Michael O’Loughlin all night,” he said. “When he managed to pick up the ball on the run and kick a goal right in front of the fans, his emotion spilled over and he celebrated provocatively right in their faces. The Swans went on to win the game, which was great because I’m a Swans fan. I’d been feeling pretty down because nothing spectacular had happened, but then in the fnal two minutes this happened and it released a food of emotion in the crowd, the playersand myself when I saw my team get up.” Pretty has had his photographs appear in a variety of newspapers including The Syd- ney Morning Herald, The Age, The Canberra Times, The West Australian and The Austral- ian. He has also won a number of World Press Photo and Walkley Awards as well as the 2004 Nikon Walkley Press Photographer of the Year award.
